Well family and friends, I’ve been dragging my feet in posting an update because after the excitement of all my progress, I’m bummed to have to share this news. What we thought was one small spot of cancer in my leg turned out to also be cancer in my left shoulder. As such, it became clear that more chemotherapy was needed, rather than a small surgical solution.
In an effort to be closer to home, I decided to seek treatment at MD Anderson in Houston. I’ve got a great new team there to guide my fight. I’ve already completed one round of chemo and start my second round on Tuesday (7/6). I’m using the same cocktail of drugs that I used last fall, and the doctors are confident that we’ll be able to smash all the spots of cancer in my body and provide happy and healthy years ahead.
I’ll do my best to keep y’all updated as things progress. The treatment is grueling, and the side effects intense. However, the last twelve months have taught me that I’m a true warrior and formidable opponent to this cancer. I’m determined. I’m strong. And I’m surrounded by your incredible love and support. So, please keep me in your prayers. Send good energy when I pop into your thoughts. And cheer me on as I continue to fight.
Doug and I are grateful for your continued kindness and encouragement. Much love to you all!
